The Role of Progressive Cavity Pumps in Fracking: Efficiency and Reliability in Fluid Management

Image
Introduction Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking , is a complex process that requires efficient and reliable fluid handling systems. Among the various pump technologies used in the industry, progressive cavity pumps (PCPs) have emerged as a preferred choice for handling drilling fluids, produced water, and chemical additives. Their ability to handle high-viscosity, abrasive, and shear-sensitive fluids makes them indispensable in upstream oil and gas operations. Why Use Progressive Cavity Pumps in Fracking? Fracking involves injecting a mixture of water, sand, and chemicals into underground rock formations to release trapped hydrocarbons. This process demands pumps that can handle variable flow rates, high-pressure applications, and harsh fluids while maintaining efficiency and durability. Progressive cavity pumps excel in these conditions due to their: ✔ Consistent Flow Rate – Unlike centrifugal pumps, which rely on pressure fluctuations, PCPs provide a smooth, non-pulsating fl...

ACCA Progressive Cavity Pumps in Fracking: The Ultimate Frac Pumps for Efficient Hydraulic Fracturing Hydraulic fracturing—commonly known as fracking —demands robust and efficient equipment to deliver high-pressure fracturing fluids to shale formations. ACCA’s progressive cavity pumps have become synonymous with reliability and innovation in the world of frac pumps , providing unmatched performance for modern fracking operations. What Are Progressive Cavity Pumps? Progressive cavity pumps are positive displacement pumps that move fluids by using a rotating helical rotor within a double-helix stator. This design creates a series of sealed cavities that transport fluid smoothly and consistently. Such pumps are ideal for fracking applications because they can handle: Viscous fluids Abrasive slurries Suspended solids The design’s robustness makes ACCA’s pumps a popular choice among operators looking for efficient and durable frac pumps in fracking . ACCA’s Technological Innovation in Fr...

Moyno Pumps Operations and Maintanence

Image
The Progressive Cavity Pump of a Moyno Pump is pretty standard to nearly all PC Pump manufacturers recommended standard procedure for starting this type of pumps. Number one rule when starting a Moyno Pump is making sure that all inlets and ourlets valves are opened and that we have fluid inside the suction housing of the pump; otherwise, we risk the notion of running the pump dry and is one of the biggest mistake when operation a Moyno Pump . Checklist When Starting a Moyno Pump Never run the progressive cavity pump dry. A few rotations in dry condition will damage the stator! Open valves and vents before starting the pump. Check the direction of rotation by briefly switching on the pump motor.
